History Génesis

Génesis also known as Genesis de Colombia was a Colombian folk-rock band, formed in Bogotá - Colombia in 1972. Very popular during the 1970's, they are regarded as a significant part of the Colombian social progressive and hippie movements of the time.

Génesis released 8 studio albums (one as Maíz) and is considered a pioneer in fusing rock music with the native folk music of Colombia, and for a long time they were the most prominent rock musicians in the country, in a period where rock music had fallen out of fashion. The iconic Humberto Monroy of The Speakers, the driving force and founding member of the band, fell with unexpected sickness and died in 1992, bringing the band to an end.
