Biography
Morgan Doctor is a drummer/percussionist/composer who has been recording and performing for the past ten years. Morgan relocated to Toronto from California in 1997 and soon after started playing with ex-Blue Rodeo keyboardist, Bob Wiseman. As well as playing for numerous singer/songwriters (including Tamara Williamson and Lily Frost), she played for over 4 years in the Toronto Tabla Ensemble where she fused her jazz, pop and East Indian rhythmic background. In 1999, her work with the Toronto Tabla Ensemble earned her a Dora as well as a Juno nomination. Because of her varied musical experience, she has played in just about every musical genre, from ska to jazz to traditional East Indian music and has shared the stage with The Tea Party, Tim Booth (James), Anjelique Kujo, Sarah Slean, Danny Michel, Mia Sheard and Tyler Stewart of the Barenaked Ladies. Currently, Morgan’s drumming can be heard every morning on CBC’s Metro Morning theme song. She has created compositional scores for dance that have been presented in the Du Maurier Theatre as well by CORPUS/Dusk Dances. Some of Morgan’s compositional works can be heard on the Toronto Tabla Ensemble's album, Weaving and on Gabrielle Roth’s Still Chillin’ album. In 2005, Morgan received a Dora Mavor Moore nomination for Best Sound Design/Composition for her work on the play Between Us Goddess. In April of this year, Morgan released her debut album, Is This Home, which has been quickly met with great response.Morgan had been playing with a band from Canada "The Cliks" since ~2006, years later their album "Snakehouse" was released.
